Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in the Operating Room with Level 1 Trauma experience required.
- Must be able to scrub and circulate during surgeries.
- Required experience areas: Orthopedics, Orthopedic Trauma, Vascular, Urology, General Surgery.
- Preferred experience areas: Neurosurgery (cranial and spine), Open Heart/Thoracic, Ophthalmology, ENT, Bariatric, Gynecology.
- On-call requirement: One 12-hour shift per month on a weekend (Saturday or Sunday), either 7 AM–7 PM or 7 PM–7 AM. No weekday call.
- Return to Office (RTO) policy: Maximum 5 days off with no more than 2 consecutive days; no RTO the day before or after a holiday; no RTO on weekends.
- Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM).
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year.
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients.
- Experience in Orthopedics and Orthopedic Trauma.
- Experience in Vascular Surgery.
- Experience in Urology.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (clear and legible).
- Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years; must include all aliases and meet state fingerprinting requirements if applicable.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Physical exam within 12 months of start, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD, and updated annually.
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually. Marijuana testing not required.
- Immunizations and health requirements:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination (declination must be within 12 months of start).
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually; chest x-ray and TB questionnaire if history positive.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if low titer.
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination (declination within 1 year).
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if low titer.
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/1 to ~4/1). Declinations not accepted by client.
- Fit mask (N95) within 1 year of start, annually required. Medical or religious exemptions require approval for PAPR use.
