Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Day shift, 12-hour shifts
- 36 hours per week required
- Shift times vary between 7:00 AM - 10:00 PM (specific shifts: 07:00-19:30, 08:00-20:30, 09:00-21:30, or 10:00-22:30)
- Weekend requirement: minimum 4 weekend shifts per contract (may vary based on need)
- No on-call required
- Floating within scope to meet facility needs is expected
- Block scheduling is not accommodated
- Local candidates not accepted (home address must be at least 75 miles from facility)
- Pending license accepted
- No more than 7 days of Return to Office (RTO) allowed per 13-week contract
- Guaranteed hours
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri (pending licenses accepted)
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of oncology nursing experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Oncology certification through Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) or Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC)
Job Responsibilities & Skills
- Patient care in outpatient oncology setting with 8 treatment chairs and 7 private isolation rooms
- Manage chemotherapy, biotherapy, blood transfusions, antibiotics, IV fluids, injections, electrolyte replacement
- Access and care of ports, PICC lines, central lines, and implanted lines
- Administration of coagulation factors, antifungals, antivirals, antiemetics, antibiotics, corticosteroids, Neupogen, IV push narcotics
- Monitor telemetry and perform EKGs
- Phlebotomy and blood glucose monitoring
- Symptom management including altered mental status, nausea/vomiting, neuropathy, edema, constipation/diarrhea, dysphagia, skin/mucous membrane alterations
- Patient and family education and support
- Isolation and neutropenic precautions
- Ability to hold patients for over 24 hours awaiting inpatient beds and manage overnight infusion treatments
- Work in a 24/7 outpatient oncology department with provider onsite 24/7

- Magnet & Teaching Hospital, Level I Trauma Center
- Unit uses EPIC for charting
- Scrub color: Navy Blue
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued ID required
- Employment application must be submitted
- Unit-specific skills checklist (Oncology/Outpatient Oncology/Infusion Center) required within 1 year of start
- Various facility-specific documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, regulatory compliance education, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months of start)
- Orientation modules required for RNs, completed through online platform, approximately 16 hours
- Vehicle registration form required for day shift workers
- Annual renewal of required certifications and background checks during assignment

- First-time travel nurses accepted
- Candidates must be prepared to float within scope as needed
- No local candidates accepted (minimum 75 miles from facility)
- No block scheduling accommodation
