Description
Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (40 hours/week)
Job Summary
- Perform nuclear medicine procedures including HIDA Scan, Bone Scan, Lung Scan, Thyroid Studies, and specialized Molecular Imaging.
- Operate imaging equipment from GE, Hitachi, Phillips, Siemens, Toshiba.
- Start and maintain Peripheral IVs.
- Follow isolation precautions and radiation safety practices.
- Handle, store, and dispose of radioactive materials safely.
- Work effectively under stressful and emergent situations.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team and patients.
Required Qualifications
- Nuclear Medicine Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
- Experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist within the last year.
- Completion of at least one travel assignment.
- Certification: ARRT(N) or NMTCB(CNMT).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist certification (ARRT N or NMTCB CNMT).
- BLS certification.
- Additional certifications may be required based on unit or facility policies.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform job duties without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
- Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon, or T-spot) within 1 year; if history of TB, additional documentation required.
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start and updated annually (may be completed onsite if needed).
Background & Compliance
- Criminal background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years.
- Education verification for highest degree required by position.
- Employment history verification covering at least 2 years within the past 7 years.
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
- Completion of facility-specific modules and attestations prior to start.
- I9 and E-Verify attestation required.

- Facility type: Short Term Acute Care, Teaching Hospital.
- Total staffed beds: 402.
- Charting system: Cerner.
- Parking available (cost applies).
- Valid driver’s license required if driving is an essential job function.
