Neuro ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Neuro ICU
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs
- Block scheduling: Not accommodated
- Local candidates: Not accepted within 75-mile radius
- Pending license accepted
- Maximum Return to Office (RTO) days: 7 days per 13-week contract
- Guaranteed minimum hours: 3 shifts per 13 weeks
- Must pass Relias EKG exam focusing on interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
Patient Diagnoses & Unit Details
- Common patient conditions: ischemic strokes (post-thrombectomy, post-tPA), neuromuscular disorders, seizure disorders, CNS infections, hemorrhagic strokes, subdural/epidural hematomas, ICP monitoring (EVDs/bolts), neurotrauma (GSW, MVC, spinal cord injuries)
- Procedures and management: vasoactive medications, central line/arterial line management, ICP monitoring, CRRT, hypothermia/hyperthermia management, spinal precautions
- Special equipment used: EVD, bolt
- Stroke education: Complete 10 hours total during orientation (NIHSS can satisfy 3 hours; ACLS renewal/new provider points count)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

- Must complete facility-specific orientation modules (~16 hours) via online platform before start

- Hand Hygiene Policy acknowledgment

- Vehicle registration form (for day shift workers)
- Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, taken within 6 months)
- Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
Additional Notes
- First-time travel nurses accepted
- No on-call requirement
- Must adhere to facility policies and complete all required education and certifications timely
- Candidate must be prepared to work night shifts with a 1:2 patient ratio in a high-acuity neuro ICU setting
