Job Opportunity: Home Health Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Newport News, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Travel/contract Registered Nurse role in home health setting
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (5 days/week, 8 hours/day)
- Every 4th weekend rotation required
- Mileage reimbursed at IRS rate
- Locals allowed at the same rate
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in Home Health, including experience within the last year
- Experience with OASIS in a Home Health setting
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within one year of start date, updated annually
- Driving record from state of license issuance required, including at least 5 years of driving history
- Virginia State Police Check must be completed and cleared prior to start
- Fingerprinting via Virginia State Police National Criminal Background Check (effective 7/15/2025)
- Drug screen within the last 12 months (specific panels required)
- Physical exam within the last 12 months
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within last 12 months; if positive, clearance letter signed by physician required
- Required vaccinations or proof of immunity:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines, titer, or history of chickenpox)
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (10/1–3/31) with strict deadlines; medical or religious exemptions accepted with approval
- COVID vaccination series preferred
Orientation and Competency Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific orientation including:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (within 1 year of start)
- Core competency testing and pass/fail testing (EKG/Medication) as applicable
- Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing required for all clinical positions
- Photo for badge must meet specific professional standards (recent, clear, neutral background, no hats/headphones, etc.)

- Scrub Colors
- Safety Brochure
- Dress Code Policy
- Drug-Free Policy
- Hand Washing Hygiene Policy
- Sworn Disclosure (for home health and hospice roles)
