Pediatrics Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Minnesota
Location
- Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota (floating between two hospital locations as needed)
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Shift Details
- 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM and 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call duties
- Typical schedule: 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week)
Job Description
- Provide family-centered nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents using the nursing process
- Accountable for independent nursing functions and delegated medical functions in collaboration with healthcare team members
- Expected to float between hospital locations as needed
- Uniform: Royal blue scrub bottoms with kid-friendly shirt or scrub top
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Minnesota
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of pediatric nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 1 year prior to start, including:
- SSN trace
- 7-year county and nationwide criminal searches
- National sex offender registry check
- FACIS level 3 check
- Education verification with degree and field of study clearly listed (Nursing or related medical sciences)
- Minnesota DHS NetStudy Fingerprint clearance required before start (fingerprinting must be completed within 2 weeks of registration)
- Employment application required
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start (must state “may work without restrictions”)
- Fit testing for N95 mask (3M 1870+ or approved alternative) within 12 months prior to start
- Immunizations or documented immunity required for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (immunity or vaccination series or declination form)
- Varicella
- Negative TB test within 1 year prior to start (2-step PPD, Q Gold, or TSpot)
- If past positive TB, must have clear chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 1 year prior to start
- Seasonal influenza vaccination or signed declination form (masking required if declined)
Certifications (as applicable)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Continuing Education Units (CEUs) per state requirements

- Prior travel experience is not specified as required
- Candidate must complete COVID-19 guidelines review prior to start
- Some facility-specific documents and questionnaires must be completed before starting assignment
This position is ideal for experienced pediatric RNs licensed in Minnesota who are comfortable working 12-hour shifts and floating between hospital locations. Compliance with Minnesota-specific fingerprinting and background check protocols is mandatory.
