Registered Nurse – MS/Tele (Travel/Contract)

Location: Rochester, New York
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 4 shifts per week, 12 hours per shift
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Work on a 26-bed unit specializing in care for patients post PCI, pacemakers, AICDs, post MI, and cardiac pharmacologic interventions.
• Patient ratio: 1:5 (1:7 for MedSurg).
• Floating within skillset required.
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend.
• Holiday requirement: Must be available to work every other holiday if needed.
• Charting system: EPIC experience required.
• RN candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted.
• First-time travelers accepted.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience in rapid response/code team participation
• Experience with EPIC electronic charting system

Clinical Skills

• IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, peripheral line care/management.
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, rapid response/code team participation.
• Nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration and tanks, isolation precautions.
• Wound care and wound vac management.

Scheduling and Policies

• Shift hours: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Call-off policy: Up to three shifts may be canceled by the client during the contract without charge.
• All time off and special scheduling requests must be submitted with the application.

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required.
• 7-year criminal background check required within 3 months of start (including felony checks).
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months of start and run monthly.
• Education verification from primary source required (no hard copy degrees).
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually.
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types accepted).
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; TB questionnaire accepted in lieu of annual renewal.
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
• Drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, opiates, etc.).
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season.
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required.

Additional Requirements

• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as required by profession.
• Color blindness testing required once.
• Competency exams as required by specialty.
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required.
• Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start.
• NURSYS verification required within 30 days for RN license.
• Photo for badge: clear, passport-style with solid background.
• Employment application and work history verification required.
• References required for travel agency submission (2 references within 3 years).
