Registered Nurse – MS/Tele (Travel/Contract)
Location: Rochester, New York
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 4 shifts per week, 12 hours per shift
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Work on a 26-bed unit specializing in care for patients post PCI, pacemakers, AICDs, post MI, and cardiac pharmacologic interventions.
- Patient ratio: 1:5 (1:7 for MedSurg).
- Floating within skillset required.
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend.
- Holiday requirement: Must be available to work every other holiday if needed.
- Charting system: EPIC experience required.
- RN candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted.
- First-time travelers accepted.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of telemetry experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience in rapid response/code team participation
- Experience with EPIC electronic charting system
Clinical Skills
- IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, peripheral line care/management.
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, rapid response/code team participation.
- Nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration and tanks, isolation precautions.
- Wound care and wound vac management.
Scheduling and Policies
- Shift hours: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
- Contract length: 13 weeks.
- Call-off policy: Up to three shifts may be canceled by the client during the contract without charge.
- All time off and special scheduling requests must be submitted with the application.
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required.
- 7-year criminal background check required within 3 months of start (including felony checks).
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months of start and run monthly.
- Education verification from primary source required (no hard copy degrees).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually.
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types accepted).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; TB questionnaire accepted in lieu of annual renewal.
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
- Drug screen within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, opiates, etc.).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season.
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.
- COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required.
Additional Requirements
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as required by profession.
- Color blindness testing required once.
- Competency exams as required by specialty.
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required.
- Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start.
- NURSYS verification required within 30 days for RN license.
- Photo for badge: clear, passport-style with solid background.
- Employment application and work history verification required.
- References required for travel agency submission (2 references within 3 years).
