Registered Nurse PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) - Massachusetts, Newton
Job Details
- Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Schedule:
- Total 40 hours per week
- Combination of 2 twelve-hour shifts and 2 eight-hour shifts
- Varied start times including days and evenings
- Up to 3 on-call shifts every 6 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Health and Safety Requirements
Fit Test:
- N95 respirator fit test within 365 days prior to start, updated annually
- Must be completed offsite; no onsite fit testing available
- No religious or medical exemptions allowed
Respirator Medical Clearance (RMC) Attestation:
- Required if fit test is required
- Must be completed prior to fit testing and updated if medical status changes
Immunizations and Testing:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR): Documentation of vaccination or immunity required
- Tuberculosis (TB) Test: Negative TB skin test or blood test within 3 months of start, updated if break >6 months
- Hepatitis B: Strongly preferred but optional (vaccination record or immunity proof)
- Tdap: Preferred within last 10 years
- Health Statement: Physician-signed statement within 365 days of start, updated if break >6 months
Background and Compliance Checks
- Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start, updated if break >6 months
- Massachusetts CORI background check within 30 days prior to start, updated if break >6 months
- Social Security Number (SSN) trace for last 7 years
- National Sex Offender Registry check within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
- Exclusion checks against OIG, GSA, MassHealth, and NH Medicaid lists within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
Documentation Required for Submission
- Resume including past 7 years of work experience with city and state
- Two professional references within 4 years, at least one supervisor or higher in the same skillset
- Skills checklist completed within 1 year
- Candidate submission coversheet (current version)
Documentation Required for Onboarding
- All required licenses and certifications verified and current
- Fit test and respirator medical clearance attestation
- TB test and immunization documentation
- Health statement signed by a licensed provider
- Background and compliance checks completed and cleared
- Self-study orientation and attestation completed
- Medication exam with 80% passing score within 365 days
Additional Notes
- MA Conditional Licenses are not accepted for this position
- No onsite fit testing available; must be completed prior to start
- Up to 3 call shifts every 6 weeks may be required
