Work Schedule
- 12-hour shifts (Day: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM; Night: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend
- Some holidays
- No on-call required
- Average 36 hours per week
Unit / Specialty
- Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
Required Experience & Skills
- CVICU experience required
- Experience and knowledge of NextStage CVVH machine required
- Basic Arrhythmia experience required; must pass a Telemetry test prior to start
- Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery and/or Acuity Adaptable area preferred
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Testing & Competency Requirements
- Must pass facility-specific Telemetry test before starting
- Telemetry test must be completed annually and meet passing criteria (80% overall, 100% in lethal rhythms)
- Remediation and retesting allowed with strict guidelines; failure after third attempt results in contract cancellation
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check and BID Form required
- Monthly monitoring through workforce monitoring systems after hire
- Education verification as applicable
- Drug screening required per standard clinical guidelines
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Proof of immunizations or immunity for:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Varicella (Chickenpox)
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination form
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually during flu season)
- Other vaccines or declinations as applicable (e.g., Meningococcal for certain departments)
Documentation & Other Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport-style, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
- Signed acknowledgment of safety manual and pass/fail testing policies
- Employment application and skills checklist (annual)
- Two clinical references within the last 3 years (Aya standard)
This position is ideal for experienced CVICU Registered Nurses with strong telemetry and arrhythmia skills, who hold a Wisconsin RN license and current BLS/ACLS certifications, and who are comfortable working 12-hour shifts on a travel contract basis.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- Minimum of 1 year of CVICU experience within the last year
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
