Job Opportunity: Cardiac Telemetry Registered Nurse (Night Shift)

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Shift Details

  • Night shift, 3 shifts per week
  • 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • Guaranteed 36 hours per week

Unit & Patient Care

  • Cardiac Telemetry unit
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5-6
  • Responsibilities include telemetry monitoring, reading rhythms, and managing cardiac medications and drips (no titration)
  • Floating within scope of practice may be required to meet facility needs
  • Weekend requirement: 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period

Experience & Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse license in Missouri
  • Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Licensure & Certifications

  • Required certifications:
    • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
    • NIH Stroke Certification (required for all nurses)
  • Preferred certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) or MAB (Management of Assaultive Behavior) if applicable

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete unit-specific competency exams annually
  • Must pass medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Must complete required facility orientation modules (~16 hours) through online training platform
  • Must comply with facility policies including dress code, hand hygiene, fingernail policy, and HIPAA acknowledgment
  • Must be willing to work within a 75-mile local radius rule (locals not accepted)
  • No on-call required
  • No block scheduling accommodation

Background & Compliance Checks

  • Criminal background check within 6 months required (7-year search including statewide and nationwide)
  • Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree required prior to start
  • State-specific searches and registries as applicable
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel, must be current throughout assignment

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually; onsite fit testing available if needed
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year of start (two-step PPD or equivalent)
  • Required vaccinations or proof of immunity for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) vaccine or declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
  • Hepatitis B declination required (vaccination not mandatory)

Documentation & Onboarding

  • Government-issued ID required (driver’s license if applicable)
  • Employment application and professional references required (two professional references preferred)
  • Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
  • Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
  • Annual completion of regulatory compliance education and facility-specific questionnaires (latex allergy, confidentiality, TB questionnaire, etc.)

This position offers an acute care hospital environment with electronic charting (EPIC), no parking fees, and a navy scrub color code. The role is ideal for RNs with cardiac telemetry experience seeking a travel contract night shift assignment.
