Registered Nurse - PCU/MI (Travel/Contract)
Location: Lees Summit, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit / Medical Intermediate (PCU/MI)
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 07:15)
- Patient Ratio: 1:5
- Weekend Requirement: 8 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule period (Friday, Saturday, Sunday combination)
- Floating: Regular floating within scope to other departments, units, or facilities as needed
- Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as required
- Block scheduling not accommodated
- Local candidates not accepted (must live at least 75 miles from facility)
- No pending licenses accepted
- Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: No more than 7 days
- Guaranteed Hours: Minimum 3 shifts over 13 weeks
- Special patient population: Post-cardiac catheterization patients
- Facility Type: Community Hospital with 240 staffed beds, including a 16-bed ICU
- Charting system: EPIC
- Scrub color: Navy
- Parking: Free
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
- Telemetry experience: Minimum 1 year, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued ID (e.g., Driver’s License or State ID)
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including:
- Statewide searches
- MO State Highway Patrol check
- Nationwide and international searches if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG quarterly checks
- Education verification of highest nursing degree (no pending verifications)
- Professional license primary source verification (NURSYS for Missouri)
- Drug screening within 1 year, including comprehensive panel (amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
- Physical exam within 1 year
- Fit mask (N95) testing, renewed annually
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (2-step PPD or equivalent)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)
- Annual compliance documents including:
- HIPAA Acknowledgement
- Latex Allergy Questionnaire
- Confidentiality Form
- Regulatory Compliance Education (annual quiz with 80% passing score)
- Hand Hygiene Policy acknowledgment
- Fingernail Policy acknowledgment
- Dress Code Policy acknowledgment
- Facility-specific orientation modules (approx. 16 hours) completed via online platform prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists (including oncology if applicable) updated annually
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 12 months prior to start (minimum 80% pass rate)
- Color blindness testing within 12 months prior to start
- References: Two professional references required, preferably supervisors within the last year
Additional Notes
- No on-call requirement
- Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
- Candidates must adhere to facility policies or risk removal from shifts
- Floating may include multiple units and facilities within the system
- Candidates must be prepared for weekend and holiday shifts as scheduled
This position offers a structured night shift schedule in a community hospital setting with a focus on telemetry and post-cardiac cath patient care. It is suitable for RNs with at least 1 year of relevant experience and telemetry skills, including those new to travel nursing.
