Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Total Hours per Week: 36
• May float to GI and Pain units
• Must be willing to rotate to 2 weekend shifts
• Call requirements in a 6-week schedule:

  • 2 weekend call shifts
  • 4 weeknight call shifts
• Required to work and take call for 1 Summer and 1 Winter holiday (shift length may vary between 8 or 12 hours)
• Charting system used: Cerner

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
• Experience in Orthopedics and Neurology
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Unexpired government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Background checks including:

  • 7-year criminal history (all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years)
  • Sex offender registry
  • Education verification (official transcript acceptable; diploma not accepted)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Pennsylvania-specific:

  • Child Abuse Search within 12 months of start
  • PA Department of Human Services fingerprinting results within 12 months (FBI fingerprinting required)
• Physical exam within 2 months of start
• Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start (3M 1870+ model required; no on-site testing)
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Current Tdap vaccine or titer
  • Negative TB test (Qgold or TSPOT within 90 days; chest X-ray if positive)
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• COVID-19 vaccine no longer required prior to start; exemptions require mask use at work
• Two professional references within 2 years of start
• Work history verification as applicable

Orientation and Training

• Completion of assigned educational modules prior to orientation (approx. 6 hours)
• Signed acknowledgment of Joint Commission Safety Manual and Pass/Fail testing requirements

Additional Notes

• Facility will not allow candidates to start without all required background checks and fingerprinting results on file
• Candidates must be prepared for variable shift lengths on holidays and call shifts
• No PAPRs available at the facility; fit testing is mandatory for patient contact roles

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with trauma and specialty surgical experience who have prior travel contract experience and meet all licensure and certification requirements.
