Job Opportunity: IMC Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in Intermediate Care (IMC) Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic units.
- Shift schedule: Evening/Night shifts, including two 12-hour shifts and two 8-hour shifts per week (total 40 hours).
- Shift times: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM and 7:00 PM – 3:30 AM.
- Workdays: Monday through Friday, with every other weekend and some holidays required.
Required Experience & Skills
- Telemetry experience in oncology, cardiac, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown units required.
- Ventilator and transplant patient care experience required.
- Must pass a Telemetry test prior to starting.
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact RN license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by American Heart Association (AHA).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification by AHA.
Compliance & Screening Requirements
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years.
- Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check and BID Form required.
- Education verification as applicable.
- Drug screening per standard clinical requirements.
- Physical exam and immunization documentation including:
- TB test or chest X-ray (with follow-up if history of positive TB).
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or titers, with medical/religious exemptions accepted.
- Varicella vaccination or titer, with exemptions accepted.
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination form if declining.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually during flu season).
- Other vaccines or declinations as applicable (e.g., Meningococcal for certain departments).
Testing & Competency Exams
- Telemetry Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required before start and annually.
- Telemetry test must be completed through the facility’s LMS system with strict passing criteria (80% overall, 100% in lethal rhythms).
- Remediation and retesting allowed up to 3 attempts; failure after 3 attempts results in contract cancellation.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
Additional Requirements
- Signed acknowledgment of Orientation Safety Manual and Pass/Fail Testing policies.
- Photo for badge (passport-style, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons).
- References: Two clinical references within the last 3 years required.
- Employment application and annual skills checklist required.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year.
- Telemetry experience.
- Ventilator experience.
- Transplant patient care experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
