Registered Nurse – Step Down Unit

Location: Saint Joseph, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within the last 12 months (not required annually)
• Fit testing completed onsite at orientation
• Negative TB test (PPD, Q-Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year, updated annually; chest x-ray and questionnaire required if positive TB history
• Immunizations or documented immunity/declination for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (vaccination series, titer, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season or approved medical/religious exemption with mask mandate
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (not required annually) covering multiple substances

Background and Documentation

• Background check within 30 days of start including:

  • National criminal check
  • State and county searches for 10 years of all addresses and aliases
  • SSN trace with aliases
  • National sex offender registry
  • FACIS Level 3
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Education verification with official transcript or diploma including graduation date
• Missouri EDL search within 30 days of start
• Employment application, skills checklist, and verification of most recent employer required
• Two professional references within 3 years of start

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Review and sign confidentiality agreement and code of conduct
• Complete demographic form prior to start
• Complete agency nurse orientation quiz with a minimum score of 84% before starting
• AVADE training (onsite skills validation) required if extending beyond initial contract in certain units (stepdown, ICU, medical surgical, etc.)
• Pass/fail testing and remediation process for EKG exam as applicable

Additional Notes

• Locals accepted at a reduced rate within a 50-mile radius
• Prior travel experience is not specified as required for this position
