Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Position Details

• Shift: Night shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Guaranteed Hours: Yes, can sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
• Patient Ratio: 1:6
• Start Date: Approximately 3-4 weeks from compliance clearance
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating: Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required
• Block Schedule: Not accommodated
• Local Candidates: Not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from facility
• Pending License: Accepted
• Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri (pending licenses accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG quarterly checks
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Drug testing within 1 year, including a comprehensive panel (amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
  • Immunizations and titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (with boosters or declinations as applicable)
  • Tdap vaccine or declination (required every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Sept 30 – Apr 1)
  • Fit mask testing (N95 respirators), renewed annually
• Facility-Specific Documents:

  • HIPAA Acknowledgement
  • Latex Allergy Questionnaire
  • Confidentiality Form
  • Regulatory Compliance Education (annual quiz with minimum 80% score)
  • Hand Hygiene, Fingernail, and Dress Code Policies acknowledgment
  • Orientation modules completion (approximately 16 hours via online platform)
  • Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
  • Vehicle registration form (for day shift workers)
• Skills and Competency:

  • Unit-specific skills checklist within 1 year of start (Oncology skills checklist required if applicable)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Annual unit-specific competency exams, including oncology competency if assigned to oncology unit
• References: Two professional references required, preferably supervisors within the last year

• Parking: Monthly parking passes available for a fee; free parking for straight night shifts in employee parking

• This unit does not care for surgical patients.
• Candidates must adhere to all facility policies and complete all required documentation prior to start.
• Locals are not accepted to ensure compliance with travel distance requirements.
• Floating may be required within the scope of practice to meet unit needs.
