Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Lafayette, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Overview

• Specialty: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
• Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:00 AM – 6:30 PM)
• Hours per week: 36 hours
• Float requirement: Yes, must float to Maternal Child Health (MCH) units
• Locals not accepted
• Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Guaranteed hours vary by shift pattern (8, 10, or 12-hour shifts)

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Indiana
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Certifications required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring)

Background & Compliance Requirements

• Background check within 90 days of start, including 7-year history and multiple national/statewide checks
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Education verification required
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months (includes amphetamines, marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP)
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 12 months (approved respirators include various 3M N95 models and Honeywell N95)
• Immunizations and titers required:

  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella – positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
  • Varicella – positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap strongly recommended (not required)
• Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season (9/30 – 3/31); declinations not accepted
• TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year of start; if positive, chest x-ray and documentation required
• Color blind testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent) with 100% minimum score required
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam and unit competency exam required
• Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment, verified within 2 years, with supervisory titles

Additional Notes

• Indiana RN travelers will not be allowed to work at this facility after 11/30/2024, except for Perioperative/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (not applicable to this role)
• Must complete facility-specific compliance and orientation documents prior to start
• Orientation includes safety manual acknowledgment and HIPAA compliance
• Must be able to work scheduled shifts and float as required
