Description

Registered Nurse – Stroke/Neuro PCU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

Shift: Night, 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM); 4x12 shifts available by request
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week block
Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
Charting System: EPIC experience required
Floating: Required to float within skillset
Patient Ratio: Typically 1:5, staffing goal 1:4
Unit Focus: Telemetry PCU specializing in stroke and neurology patients; Joint Commission certified primary stroke center
IV Drips Managed: Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix, Lidocaine, Ketamine
Remote Telemetry: Monitors remain on unit; tele-sitting used to increase Patient Care Tech coverage

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
Minimum 1 year of Telemetry PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
Neuro PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
ACLS certification
BLS certification issued by American Heart Association
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
