Registered Nurse – CVPICU (Pediatric ICU / Cardiovascular)
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Day/Evening shifts, 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required
- 36 hours per week
Job Description
- Strong Pediatric ICU experience required
- At least 1 year of Cardiovascular (CV) experience required
- EPIC electronic health record experience required
- Telemetry test must be passed prior to start
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Minimum 1 year of CVPICU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience working with Pediatric patients
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
Testing & Competencies
- Must pass Pediatric Telemetry Test (assigned via LMS platform) before starting
- Telemetry test requires:
- 80% overall score
- 100% in lethal rhythms subcategory
- Up to 3 attempts allowed with remediation required after 2nd failed attempt
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check and BID form required
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire and monitored monthly
- Education verification required if applicable
- Employment application and 2 clinical references within last 3 years required
- Skills checklist required annually
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
- TB questionnaire required and updated annually
- Proof of Tdap vaccination (one dose from adulthood) required
- MMR: 2 doses or positive titers required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation
- Varicella: 2 doses or positive titer required; medical or religious exemptions accepted
- Hepatitis B vaccination series and/or declination form required if providing direct patient care
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually (flu season: Sept 22 – Apr 13)
- Drug screening required per standard (not annually)
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
- Completion of communicable disease form within 90 days of start
- Completion of orientation safety manual acknowledgment
- Acknowledgment of pass/fail telemetry testing
- Additional vaccine exemption forms (MMR, Varicella, Flu) as applicable

- Candidates with strong Level II experience may be considered
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
- Telemetry test is mandatory and must be passed before starting the assignment
