Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – MS/Tele Float

Shift Details

  • Night shift
  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 to 7:15)
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule minimum (Saturday/Sunday), plus holiday rotation

Patient Ratios

  • Days and weekends: 1:5-6
  • Nights: 1:6

Job Description

  • Float nurse position covering Medical-Surgical and Telemetry units
  • May float to medical, surgical, oncology, neuro, renal, and cardiology units within scope
  • Float assignments communicated in advance if pre-assigned; otherwise, unit assignment given up to 1 hour before shift start
  • No block scheduling accommodations
  • No on-call requirement

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience
  • Medical-Surgical and Telemetry experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Scheduling and Hours

  • Guaranteed minimum of 3 shifts per 13-week contract
  • No more than 7 days of Return to Office (RTO) allowed per contract
  • Local candidates outside a 75-mile radius are not accepted

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued ID required
  • Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
  • Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree required before start
  • Professional license primary source verification (NURSYS for Missouri)
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel; must remain valid throughout assignment
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing annually (N95 respirators required)
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tdap vaccine or declination (required every 10 years)
    • Two negative TB tests or acceptable alternatives within 1 year
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
  • Required facility-specific documents prior to start:
    • HIPAA Acknowledgement
    • Latex Allergy Questionnaire
    • Confidentiality Form
    • Regulatory Compliance Education (annual quiz with 80% passing score)
    • TB Questionnaire (annual)
    • Hand Hygiene Policy acknowledgment
    • Fingernail Policy acknowledgment
    • Dress Code Policy acknowledgment
    • Orientation modules completion (approximately 16 hours via online platform)
    • Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
  • Skills checklist specific to unit required within 1 year of start (including oncology skills if assigned to oncology unit)
  • Two professional references required (supervisors preferred, with specific guidance for recent graduates)
