Registered Nurse (PCU/MS/Tele) - Travel/Contract

Location: Saint Joseph, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Overview

• Work in a Long-Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH) with a high-acuity patient population.
• Patient types include med-surg, intubated/trached on ventilator, post open-heart surgery, cystic fibrosis, vent weaning, pulmonary fibrosis, and sepsis from wounds.
• Typical patient stay is longer before discharge to home, acute rehab, or skilled nursing facility.
• Float to LTACH from ICU may be required due to patient acuity.
• Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM).
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5.
• Every third weekend required (8 weekend shifts per contract).
• Self-scheduling available.
• Local candidates within 50 miles accepted at a reduced rate.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Missouri.
• Minimum 1 year of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year.
• Med-Surg and Telemetry experience.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• ACLS certification.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Background checks including:

  • National Criminal Check
  • State and County Searches (10 years, all aliases)
  • SSN Trace
  • National Sex Offender Registry
  • FACIS Level 3
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM
  • HHS/OIG
• Education verification (official transcript or diploma with graduation date).
• Missouri EDL Search within 30 days of start.
• Primary source verification of RN license within 30 days of start.
• NURSYS verification required.
• Drug screen within 30 days of start (includes multiple substances).
• Physical exam within last 12 months (not required annually).
• Fit mask testing completed onsite at orientation.
• Immunizations/vaccinations or documented immunity/declination for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year, with additional requirements if positive.
• Flu vaccine required during flu season or approved medical/religious exemption (mask required if exempt).

Orientation & Training Requirements

• Must review and sign facility-specific confidentiality agreement and code of conduct.
• Complete agency nurse orientation quiz with a minimum score of 84%.
• Basic Dysrhythmia (EKG) competency exam required with a passing score of 84% (max 2 attempts; ICU has one attempt only).
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
• AVADE onsite training required if extending past initial contract (includes online pre-work and in-person skills validation).
