Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (Night Shift)
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Job Details
- Unit: Emergency Room (ER)
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (17:45 – 6:15)
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
- Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend (Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday depending on rotation)
- First-time travelers not accepted
- Local radius rule: 75 miles (locals not accepted)
- Floating: No floating required
- Block scheduling: Not accommodated
- On-call: Not required

Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse experience
- ED experience within the last year
Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse license in Missouri
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Certifications (AHA approved unless otherwise noted)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Government-issued ID required (e.g., driver’s license or state ID)
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification of highest nursing degree required before start
- State-specific background checks for Missouri (EDL, Highway Patrol, Family Care Safety Registry)
- Fingerprinting required for Illinois long-term care or rehab units (not applicable here)
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels (amphetamines, opiates, cocaine, etc.) and be valid throughout assignment
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
- HIPAA Acknowledgement, Latex Allergy Questionnaire, Confidentiality Form, Hand Hygiene Policy, Fingernail Policy, Dress Code Policy must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Regulatory Compliance Education and facility orientation modules required annually via online platform
Documentation & Other Requirements
- Employment application must be submitted and uploaded
- Two professional references required (supervisors preferred, with specific guidelines for RNFAs)
- Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start (Oncology skills checklist if applicable)
- Competency exams required annually, including medication/pharmacology and unit-specific exams
- Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
- Various facility-specific forms and acknowledgements must be completed prior to start
Additional Notes
- Guaranteed hours: 36 hours per week on 3 twelve-hour night shifts
- No special requirements or accommodations for block scheduling or floating
- Candidates must adhere to facility policies or risk removal from shifts
