Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Clinton, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (07:00 - 19:30)
Hours per week: 36 hours

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in a high-risk Labor and Delivery unit.
• Responsibilities include circulating, fetal heart monitoring (FHM), precepting, charge nurse duties, and triage (preferred).
• Must be able to float within related skillsets such as Mom/Baby and postpartum care.
• Call requirement: 36 hours in 6 weeks or 12 hours per pay period; must be on premises within 45 minutes of call.
• Work every other weekend and every other holiday.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience with high-risk patients.
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year.
• Experience in charge nurse roles.
• Completion of at least 1 prior travel assignment.
• Certifications:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Certified Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) skills
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • STABLE certification
• Proficient in fetal heart monitoring (FHM).

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Valid driver’s license if driving is an essential job function.
• Criminal background check within 90 days, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years.
• I9/E-Verify attestation required prior to start.
• Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana).
• Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
• Immunizations and health documentation including:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years (preferred)
  • Documentation of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
• N95 fit test within 9 months of start and updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed).
• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start.
• Medication, pharmacology, and competency exams required within 3 years of start, including an 80% passing score.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required if applicable to unit.

References and Work History

• Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
• Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information.
• Verification of at least 2 years of employment in the past 7 years, preferably the most recent 2 years.

Additional Notes

• Locals within 60 miles may be considered at a different rate.
• Must be able to respond to call within 45 minutes on-site.
• Float assignments may include related areas such as postpartum and Mom/Baby units.
