Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Clinton, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (07:00 - 19:30)
Hours per week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in a high-risk Labor and Delivery unit.
- Responsibilities include circulating, fetal heart monitoring (FHM), precepting, charge nurse duties, and triage (preferred).
- Must be able to float within related skillsets such as Mom/Baby and postpartum care.
- Call requirement: 36 hours in 6 weeks or 12 hours per pay period; must be on premises within 45 minutes of call.
- Work every other weekend and every other holiday.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience with high-risk patients.
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year.
- Experience in charge nurse roles.
- Completion of at least 1 prior travel assignment.
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Certified Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) skills
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- STABLE certification
- Proficient in fetal heart monitoring (FHM).
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid driver’s license if driving is an essential job function.
- Criminal background check within 90 days, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years.
- I9/E-Verify attestation required prior to start.
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana).
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
- Immunizations and health documentation including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years (preferred)
- Documentation of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start and updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed).
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start.
- Medication, pharmacology, and competency exams required within 3 years of start, including an 80% passing score.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required if applicable to unit.
References and Work History
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information.
- Verification of at least 2 years of employment in the past 7 years, preferably the most recent 2 years.
Additional Notes
- Locals within 60 miles may be considered at a different rate.
- Must be able to respond to call within 45 minutes on-site.
- Float assignments may include related areas such as postpartum and Mom/Baby units.
