Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Home Health (Virginia)

Job Details

• Location: Saluda, Virginia
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (5x8 hours)
• Hours per Week: 40 hours
• Average Patients per Day: 5-8
• Weekly Travel: Approximately 200+ miles, willing to travel up to 75 miles from home clinic
• Schedule Notes:

  • One weekend per month rotation required
  • On-call once a month, including the weekend on-call
  • Some positions may have a 4x10 schedule (Friday-Monday), but most are standard 5x8

Job Description

• Provide and coordinate home nursing care according to physician orders and agency policies.
• Directly supervise and evaluate Home Health Aides and Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses.
• Manage various case types including Start of Care, Wound Care, and Follow-up Visits.
• Documentation and charting using HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB) and OASIS (required proficiency for RNs).

Required Qualifications

• License: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for Virginia (must have license in hand; no pending licenses accepted)
• Experience: Minimum 1 full year of recent Adult Home Health experience or 1 full year Hospice experience (depending on specialty)
• Certifications: Current CPR and BLS certification (AHA, National CPR Foundation, or ARC accepted)
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB) within the last 6 months; RNs must also be proficient in OASIS
• Transportation: Reliable transportation, current driver's license, and agency-required liability insurance required
• Local Candidates: Accepted within the same pay rate

Additional Requirements

• Must be willing to travel within the assigned territory (Northern Neck area)
• Must complete various compliance and background checks including:

  • Standard 7-year background check with state-specific requirements
  • Fingerprinting as required by state regulations
  • Drug screening (10-panel)
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • Immunization or titer proof for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • COVID-19 vaccination series or declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination documentation
• Must complete required facility-specific documents and compliance training prior to start
• Must provide notarized state police background release form for Virginia
• Two professional references required
• Verification of at least two most recent employers or last 7 years of work history

Work Environment

• Dress code: Scrubs
• Home visits with periodic office meetings
• Documentation and travel time are tracked with a point system
• No guaranteed hours; if patient census is low, floating to nearby clinics may be arranged

Notes

• First-time travel nurses without recent specialty experience are not accepted
• Weekend and on-call requirements vary; discuss during interview
• Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate for travel between patient homes (commute to/from first and last patient not reimbursed)
