Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract

Location: Massena, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend (EOW)
Local Candidates: Must live more than 50 miles away
First-Time Travelers: Not accepted

Patient Population & Unit Information

• Patient diagnoses commonly include COPD, pneumonia, non-specific abdominal pain, cellulitis, chest pain rule out.
• Unit accepts telemetry (MS/Tele) patients.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • Days: 1:6
  • Nights: 1:7
  • Weekends: 1:8

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current ACLS certification
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Current PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required.
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and education verification.
• Physical exam, fit mask test, and required immunizations/vaccinations must be current and completed within specified timeframes, including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunity or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
• Drug screening required within 30 days of start.
• Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of contract start.
• Harassment prevention training certificate (annual requirement).
• Competency exams as required by specialty, including dysrhythmia/EKG competency.
• Facility-specific training and policy acknowledgments must be completed prior to start.

Additional Requirements

• 7-year work history verification and professional references required.
• Skills checklist must be updated annually.
• Candidates must review facility policies on patient confidentiality, sexual harassment prevention, patient experience, and pre-employment compliance.
• Scrubs: Any nursing uniform color allowed.

Notes

• Prior travel experience is not accepted for first-time travelers on this unit.
• Candidates must be able to start with all required documentation and certifications current; no pending certifications allowed at start.
• Strict adherence to expiration dates on health documents is enforced; documents expiring during the contract must be renewed prior to expiration to avoid removal from the floor.
