Description
Registered Nurse – Pediatric OR
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 17 weeks
Work Schedule
- Day and evening shifts
- 12-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Weeknight, weekend, and holiday on-call responsibilities
- Approximately 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- Minimum of 1 year of Pediatric Operating Room (OR) experience, with recent experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including:
- SSN trace, county and nationwide searches, sex offender registry
- Review of any pending or convicted criminal charges prior to start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire and monitored monthly
- Wisconsin Caregiver Screening and BID Form required prior to start
- Education verification as applicable (for RN, standard nursing education verification expected)
- Employment application and skills checklist required annually
- Two clinical references within the last 3 years (Aya standard)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Proof of Tdap vaccination (one dose from adulthood, 10-year update not mandatory)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines (IGRA blood test or two-step skin test)
- Annual TB Questionnaire required for all candidates
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella):
- 2 doses of MMR at least 28 days apart OR positive titers for all three
- Medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation and approval
- Varicella:
- 2 doses at least 28 days apart OR positive titer
- Medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation and approval
- Hepatitis B:
- Completed vaccination series and positive antibody titer OR facility-specific declination form
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season (09/22 – 04/13)
- Meningococcal vaccine or declination required if working in Microbiology Department (not typically applicable for Pediatric OR)
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge: Passport-style photo required (no selfies, headwear only for religious/medical reasons)
- Completion of communicable disease form within 90 days of start
- Completion of orientation safety manual acknowledgment annually
- Completion of pass/fail telemetry testing as applicable (strict deadlines and remediation process)
- Completion of facility-specific study guides for telemetry exams (review only)
Additional Notes
- Physical exam is not required by the facility but must be collected to meet Aya standard (within 1 year)
- Fit mask testing completed onsite; no need to submit results
- Drug screening required for all clinical candidates per Aya standard (standard 9-panel drug screen)
- Employment application and annual skills checklist required
- Strict compliance with all background, health, and competency requirements is mandatory prior to start
