Registered Nurse - MS/Tele Float
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Float nursing role covering multiple inpatient areas including Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Trauma, Oncology, Heart and Vascular, Neuro, Medicine, COVID, and ED Holding/Boarding.
- Some floors require primary nursing.
- Nurses will float shift to shift within the hospital campus (excluding Women’s/Infant and Labor & Delivery units).
- Patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6.
- Guaranteed 36 hours per week, working night shifts (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM).
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend.
- No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius.
- Pending license accepted.
- Return to office (RTO) restrictions: no more than 7 days of RTO.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri (pending licenses accepted).
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- IV start certification required.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID).
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches.
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
- Education verification of highest nursing degree.
- Professional license primary source verification (NURSYS for Missouri).
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, covering a comprehensive panel including amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, and others.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask testing (N95 respirators) with annual renewal.
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap vaccine or declination (required every 10 years).
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Sept-April).
- Required facility-specific documents including:
- HIPAA Acknowledgement
- Latex Allergy Questionnaire
- Confidentiality Form
- Regulatory Compliance Education (annual quiz with 80% passing score)
- Hand Hygiene, Fingernail, and Dress Code Policies acknowledgment
- Orientation modules (approximately 16 hours, completed via online platform)
- Vehicle registration form for day shift workers (if applicable)
- Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)

- Parking: Monthly parking passes available; parking fees apply except for straight night shifts.
- No on-call requirement.
- No block scheduling accommodation.
- References: Two professional references required, preferably supervisors within the last year.
- Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start. Oncology skills checklist required for Med Surg-Oncology unit.
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with telemetry and float experience who are comfortable working night shifts and floating across multiple inpatient units in a large acute care hospital setting.
