Registered Nurse - MS/Tele Float

Job Description

• Float nursing role covering multiple inpatient areas including Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Trauma, Oncology, Heart and Vascular, Neuro, Medicine, COVID, and ED Holding/Boarding.
• Some floors require primary nursing.
• Nurses will float shift to shift within the hospital campus (excluding Women’s/Infant and Labor & Delivery units).
• Patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6.
• Guaranteed 36 hours per week, working night shifts (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM).
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend.
• No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius.
• Pending license accepted.
• Return to office (RTO) restrictions: no more than 7 days of RTO.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri (pending licenses accepted).
• Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• IV start certification required.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID).
• Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches.
• Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
• Education verification of highest nursing degree.
• Professional license primary source verification (NURSYS for Missouri).
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, covering a comprehensive panel including amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, and others.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Fit mask testing (N95 respirators) with annual renewal.
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Tdap vaccine or declination (required every 10 years).
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year.
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Sept-April).
• Required facility-specific documents including:

  • HIPAA Acknowledgement
  • Latex Allergy Questionnaire
  • Confidentiality Form
  • Regulatory Compliance Education (annual quiz with 80% passing score)
  • Hand Hygiene, Fingernail, and Dress Code Policies acknowledgment
  • Orientation modules (approximately 16 hours, completed via online platform)
  • Vehicle registration form for day shift workers (if applicable)
  • Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)

• Parking: Monthly parking passes available; parking fees apply except for straight night shifts.

• Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start. Oncology skills checklist required for Med Surg-Oncology unit.

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with telemetry and float experience who are comfortable working night shifts and floating across multiple inpatient units in a large acute care hospital setting.
