Job Description

  • Float nurse position covering Medical-Surgical and Telemetry units.
  • Float to medical, surgical, oncology, neuro, renal, and cardiology units as needed.
  • Float assignments may be pre-assigned or given on shift day via recorded line.
  • Ratios: 1:5-6 (Days and weekends), 1:6 (Nights).
  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 to 7:15).
  • Weekend requirement: Minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (every other weekend), plus holiday rotation.
  • Guaranteed minimum of 3 shifts per 13-week contract.
  • No on-call requirement.
  • No block scheduling.
  • Local candidates within 75-mile radius not accepted.
  • Pending license accepted.
  • Return to Office (RTO) restriction: No more than 7 days off per 13-week contract.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri.
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
  • Fit mask testing (N95 respirators) required and must be renewed annually.
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or documented immunity for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap every 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year of start (2-step PPD or equivalent).
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 30 - Apr 1).
  • Drug screening within 1 year of start, covering a comprehensive panel including amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, and others; must remain valid throughout assignment.

Background and Compliance Checks

  • Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches.
  • Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree required.
  • State-specific searches and registries as applicable.
  • Fingerprinting required for assignments in Illinois long-term care or rehab units.
  • Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) registration required for certain positions.
  • HIPAA acknowledgment, confidentiality, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
  • Regulatory compliance education and orientation modules must be completed annually via online platform.

  • Government-issued ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
  • Professional license verification (NURSYS for Missouri).
  • Employment application.
  • Unit-specific skills checklist within 1 year.
  • Two professional references (supervisors preferred; specific requirements for RNFAs).
  • Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months).
  • Various facility-specific forms and acknowledgments (e.g., HIPAA, confidentiality, latex allergy).

  • Nurses will float within their scope of practice.
  • Training provided for specialized equipment use.
  • Candidates must adhere to facility policies or risk removal from shifts.
  • No vehicle registration required for this facility.
