Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Rochester, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• Primarily 10-hour evening shifts (1:00 PM – 11:30 PM)
• Flexibility to work other shifts with advance notice
• Call required
• Minimal Return to Office (RTO) restrictions
• Block scheduling may be accommodated but not guaranteed
• Local candidates within 75 miles not accepted
• First-time travelers not accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
• Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Urology surgical experience

Skills & Experience

• Broad surgical skills including but not limited to:

  • General OR procedures
  • Bariatric surgeries (Gastric bypass, Sleeve, Lap band)
  • Vascular surgeries (Aortic aneurysm repair, Carotid procedures, Endovascular repair, Bypass grafts)
  • Thoracic surgeries (Lung resection, Thoracotomy, VATS)
  • ENT procedures (Endoscopic sinus, Laryngectomy, Tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, Tracheostomy, Bronchoscopy)
  • GI surgeries (Colonoscopy, Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Hernia repair, Whipple, Mastectomy, Thyroidectomy)
  • Gynecological surgeries (Hysterectomy, Tubal ligation, Dilation & Curettage, Therapeutic abortion)
  • Neurosurgical procedures (Craniotomy, VP shunt insertion, Laminectomy, Spinal fusion)
  • Orthopedic surgeries (ACL reconstruction, Arthroscopy, Joint replacement, Spinal fusion)
  • Plastic surgeries (Abdominoplasty, Breast augmentation, Free flap reconstruction)
  • Urological surgeries (Cystectomy, Prostatectomy, Nephrectomy)
  • Pediatric procedures (Myringotomy with tubes, Tonsillectomy/adenoids)
  • Use of Da Vinci Xi Surgical System
• Experience in diverse units including ortho-total joint and trauma, neuro, gynecology/urology, vascular, thoracic
• Code response, fire safety, latex allergy awareness, infection control, laser and radiation safety, specimen handling, universal protocol, urinary catheterization
