Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU Float
Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
- Patient Ratio: 1:5
- Weekend Requirement: 8 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule period (Friday/Saturday/Sunday combination)
- Floating: Regular floating between departments, units, and facility as needed
- Local Candidates: Not accepted; home must be at least 75 miles from facility
- First-Time Travelers: Accepted
- Guaranteed Hours: Minimum 3 shifts per 13 weeks
- Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 7 days
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), with PCU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG quarterly checks
- Education verification of highest nursing degree
- State-specific searches and registries as applicable
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask (N95) testing, renewed annually
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray per facility protocol
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
- Tdap vaccine or declination
- Drug screening within 1 year, including specific panels (amphetamines, benzodiazepines, opiates, etc.)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Facility-Specific Documents:
- HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies
- Regulatory compliance education and orientation modules (approx. 16 hours) completed prior to start
- Badge photo meeting facility standards
- Competency Exams:
- Unit-specific competency exam, updated annually
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (new contracts only)
- Oncology competency exam if assigned to oncology unit
- References:
- Two professional references required, preferably supervisors within the last year
- Skills Checklist:
- Unit-specific skills checklist within 1 year of start
