Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVICU

Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36


Job Description

  • Float required.
  • Work schedule includes 2 weekends per month or every other weekend.
  • Patient ratios: 1:1 in CVICU; 1:2-3 in ICU.
  • No holiday time off requests will be accommodated for specified holidays (including major national and local holidays).
  • Bi-weekly orientation provided.

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted; actual certification required (no screenshots/photos); must not expire within 45 days of assignment start.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted; actual certification required; must not expire within 45 days of assignment start.
  • NIHSS (NIH Stroke Scale Certification) - actual downloaded certification required; must not expire within 45 days of assignment start.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee.
  • Minimum of 1 year of CVICU experience, with recent CVICU experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Health and Background Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, signed by MD, DO, NP, APRN, or PA confirming fitness for duty.
  • Negative TB test (QGold or Skin Test) within 1 year; T-spots not accepted. If previously positive, clear chest x-ray within 10 years plus questionnaire required.
  • TB questionnaire required.
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required with documentation:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer.
    • Hepatitis B: Vaccine series of 3, titer, or declination.
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer.
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccine required for all starts between September 1 and April 1; exemptions only for approved medical or religious reasons.
  • Drug testing within 45 days of start, including a comprehensive panel (amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, opiates, etc.) with MRO signature.
  • Background check completed within 45 days of start, including 7 years of history, SSN trace, alias verification, sex offender registries, criminal searches, and abuse registries.
  • Color blind testing within 12 months prior to start (Ishihara or online test, 100% score required).

Competency Exams (must be current)

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (minimum 80% score; not required for L&D, Psych, LTC, Mother-Baby/Couplet Care/Post Partum, Transitional Care).
  • Core Competency Exams Part I, II, and III (minimum 80% pass rate, updated annually).

Additional Facility Requirements

  • Passport-style photo with solid background required for badge.
  • Completion of onboarding attestation and review of onboarding documents.
  • Background Check Alias Name Attestation if applicable.
  • Utility bill, mortgage statement, or lease in candidate’s name with address matching RN license address (if living more than 75 miles from facility).
