Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU

Location: Cape Girardeau, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting.
  • Must have cardiac nursing experience, including management of cardiac drips, cardiothoracic surgeries, chest pain, post-cath lab interventions, and other cardiac-specific diagnoses.
  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical records (EMR) system is required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Cardiac nursing experience including management of cardiac drips, cardiothoracic surgeries, chest pain, post-cath lab interventions, and other cardiac-specific diagnoses.
  • Experience with Epic electronic medical records (EMR) system.

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 60 days of start, including all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 60 days of start.
  • Education verification of highest degree required.
  • Missouri state-specific employment screening (MO EDL) required within 60 days of start.

Certifications and Testing

  • National tech certification verification required within 30 days of start.
  • EPIC Pass/Fail testing (EKG/Medication) administered onsite; two attempts allowed.
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
  • Color blindness testing (online acceptable).
  • Competency exams as applicable to specialty.
  • Photo for badge (passport-style).
  • Annual skills checklist required.

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
  • Mask fit test within 12 months of start (specific mask models required).
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year; if positive, clear chest x-ray within 5 years and TB questionnaire within 1 year.
  • TB questionnaire required annually regardless of TB status.
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or declination)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine required if assigned to NICU or Family Birthplace (within 10 years).
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (September 1 - March 31) or approved exemption.

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required.
  • Employment application required.
  • Completion of facility-specific e-learning modules prior to start.
  • Influenza verification or exemption documentation required.
