Registered Nurse - PCU/MI (Travel/Contract)
Location: Lees Summit, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit / Medical Intermediate (PCU/MI)
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 07:15)
- Patient Ratio: 1:5
- Weekend Requirement: 8 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule period (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
- Floating: Regular floating within scope may be required between departments, units, and facilities
- Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed
- Block scheduling not accommodated
- Local candidates not accepted (home must be at least 75 miles from facility)
- Guaranteed minimum: 3 shifts per 13 weeks
- Special patient population: Post-cardiac catheterization patients
- Facility type: Community hospital with 240 staffed beds, including a 16-bed ICU
- Charting system: EPIC
- Parking: Free

Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Compliance and Background Requirements
- Government-issued ID required (e.g., driver’s license)
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including:
- Statewide searches
- MO State Highway Patrol check (renewed annually)
- Nationwide and international searches if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG quarterly checks
- Education verification of highest nursing degree required (no pending verifications)
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, covering a comprehensive panel including opiates and benzodiazepines
- Health screenings and immunizations:
- Physical exam within 1 year
- Fit mask (N95) testing, renewed annually
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
- Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Required facility-specific documents prior to start:
- HIPAA Acknowledgement
- Latex Allergy Questionnaire
- Confidentiality Form
- Regulatory Compliance Education (annual quiz with 80% passing score)
- Hand Hygiene Policy acknowledgment
- Fingernail Policy acknowledgment
- Dress Code Policy acknowledgment
- Orientation modules (approximately 16 hours, completed via online platform)
- Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
- References: Two professional references required, preferably supervisors within the last year
- Employment application must be completed and uploaded
Additional Notes
- No pending licenses accepted
- Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions: No more than 7 days off between shifts
- Candidates must be able to float as needed within the facility
- Candidates must comply with all facility policies and complete required training modules before starting
- Candidates must adhere to the facility’s dress code and hygiene policies to avoid being sent home from shifts
This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of experience in a Medical-Surgical Intermediate or Progressive Care setting, comfortable working night shifts with telemetry skills, and willing to travel for a 13-week contract in Missouri.
