Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract

Location: Lees Summit, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 18:45 - 7:15)
  • Average Daily Census: 29 patients
  • Unit Size: 30 beds/rooms
  • Patient Population: General intermediate care, including sepsis/infection, wounds, CHF, cardiac arrhythmias, AMI, CVA/TIA, altered mental status, ETOH withdrawal, suicidal ideation, post-op, ortho, urology procedures, GI bleed
  • Unit Type: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele), PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown
  • Charting System: EPIC
  • Scrub Color: Navy
  • Weekend Requirement: 4-6 shifts every 6 weeks
  • Floating: Floating within service line and to sister facilities as needed
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted (home must be at least 75 miles away)
  • On-call: Not required
  • Guaranteed Hours: Minimum 3 shifts per 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), Direct Observation Unit (DOU), Intermediate Care (IMC), or Stepdown units
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • Criminal background check within 6 months (7-year search including statewide and nationwide)
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG quarterly checks
    • Education verification of highest nursing degree
    • State-specific searches and registries as applicable
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 1 year
    • Fit mask (N95) annual renewal required
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
    • Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
    • Drug testing within 1 year, including specific drug panels
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Sep-Apr)
    • Immunity or vaccination documentation for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
  • Facility Specific Documents:
    • Badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
    • HIPAA Acknowledgement, Latex Allergy Questionnaire, Confidentiality Form, Regulatory Compliance Education (annual)
    • Hand Hygiene, Fingernail, and Dress Code Policies acknowledgment
    • Orientation modules completion (approx. 16 hours via WorkRamp)
  • Competency Exams:
    • Unit-specific competency exam (annual)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (new contracts, 80% pass rate)
    • Medication/pharmacology competency exam
  • References: Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)

Additional Information

  • Restrictions: No pending licenses accepted
  • Return to Office (RTO): No more than 7 days allowed
  • Special Requirements: Experience with intermediate care population and complex cardiac and post-op care
  • Drug Screen: Must include amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, opiates, oxycodone, PCP
  • Floating: May float within service line and to sister facilities as needed

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with telemetry and medical-surgical skills who are comfortable working night shifts in a fast-paced, intermediate care setting. Prior travel experience is preferred but not required.
