Registered Nurse (IMC) - Travel/Contract
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Shift: Night (7:00 pm – 7:30 am), 12-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, every other weekend and some holidays required
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in Intermediate Care (IMC) Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic units
- Telemetry experience required, including oncology, cardiac, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown units
- Ventilator and transplant patient care experience required
- Must pass a Telemetry test prior to start
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin
- Minimum of 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with ventilator patient care
- Experience with transplant patient care
- Telemetry experience
Certifications & Testing
- Telemetry test (Adult Telemetry Test) must be completed and passed before start; annual renewal required
- Telemetry test includes strict passing criteria:
- 80% overall score
- 100% in lethal rhythms subcategory
- Correct answers on all 3rd degree heart block questions
- Up to 3 attempts allowed with remediation after 2nd failure
- BLS and ACLS must be current and AHA-issued
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including SSN trace and nationwide sex offender search
- Wisconsin Caregiver Screening and BID Form required within 90 days of start
- Education verification as applicable (for RN, standard nursing education verification expected)
- Drug screening required per standard clinical candidate policy
- Physical exam collected to meet agency standard (not facility required)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray per facility protocol, with annual TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 doses or positive titers required; medical or religious exemptions accepted with proper documentation
- Varicella: 2 doses or positive titer required; medical or religious exemptions accepted
- Hepatitis B vaccination series and positive titer or facility-specific declination form required
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually during flu season (September to April)
- Other vaccines or declinations as applicable (e.g., meningococcal for certain departments)
Additional Facility-Specific Requirements
- Passport-style photo for badge (no selfies, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
- Signed acknowledgment of pass/fail telemetry testing
- Completion of facility-specific communicable disease form within 90 days of start
- Medical or religious exemption forms for flu, MMR, Varicella vaccines as applicable
References & Documentation
- Two clinical references within the last 3 years required (agency standard)

Summary
This is a 13-week travel Registered Nurse position in Intermediate Care units with night shifts in Madison, WI.
