Description

Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Patient Ratio: 1:4-5
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Start Date: Approximately 3-4 weeks from compliance clearance


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care for patients waiting to be admitted to inpatient units, starting care in the Emergency Department until beds are available.
  • Responsibilities include interpretation of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, feeding tube care and management, pre/post hemodialysis management, accessing ports, blood product administration, central line and peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, starting IVs, heparin protocols, managing cardiac drips (excluding triation, PCA, thrombolytic agents), substance withdrawal, orthopedic trauma, traction, oxygen delivery (nasal cannula, face masks, portable tanks), and isolation precautions.
  • Must pass the Relias Basic Dysrhythmia (EKG) exam.
  • Floating within the service line is required when needed.
  • Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility (locals not accepted).
  • Pending license accepted.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri (pending licenses accepted).
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Additional Information

  • Floating within the service line may be required to meet facility needs.
  • Time off requests limited to 2 requests totaling no more than 40 hours (5 days) during the contract.
  • No on-call requirement.
  • Facility uses EPIC for charting.
  • Facility is a Magnet & Teaching Hospital and a Level I Trauma Center.
  • Total staffed beds: 1,266.
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue.
  • Parking is available with monthly passes; night shift parking is free in employee lots.
  • First-time travelers accepted.
  • Locals not accepted (must live at least 75 miles away).
