Description
Registered Nurse (MS/Telemetry) - Travel/Contract
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Shift: Night (4 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (can sign for 36 or 48 hours)
Patient Ratio: 1:4-5
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years as a Registered Nurse
First-Time Travelers: Accepted
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Local Candidates: Not accepted (home must be at least 75 miles from facility)
Pending License: Accepted
Job Description / Responsibilities
- Care for unit patients waiting to be admitted from the Emergency Department until inpatient beds are available.
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias and completion of Relias Basic Dysrhythmia (EKG) exam required.
- Management of IV insulin protocols, feeding tube care, pre/post hemodialysis care.
- Accessing ports, blood product administration, central line and peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, and starting IVs.
- Management of heparin protocols and cardiac drips (excluding triation, PCA, thrombolytic agents).
- Care for patients with substance withdrawal, orthopedic trauma, traction.
- Oxygen therapy including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks.
- Adherence to isolation precautions.
- Floating within service line as needed.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
- Minimum 2 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Certifications
- Relias Basic Dysrhythmia (EKG) competency exam must be passed prior to or at start.
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (check unit-specific requirements).
Licensure
- Pending licenses accepted.
Compliance and Background Requirements
- Government-issued ID required.
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches.
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
- Education verification of highest nursing degree required.
- State-specific searches and registries as applicable.
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap vaccine or declination.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season.
- Facility-specific documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
- Orientation modules (approx. 16 hours) required through online platform unless completed in current calendar year.
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references required (supervisors preferred).
- Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start.
- No on-call requirement.
- Time off requests limited to 2 requests totaling no more than 40 hours during contract.
- Parking available with monthly fees; no charge for straight night shifts.
- Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months).
