Registered Nurse - MS/Telemetry (Travel/Contract)
Location: Lees Summit, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 18:45 - 7:15)

Job Description
- Work in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5
- Required to float regularly within scope to different departments, units, and facilities as needed
- Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule period (Friday/Saturday/Sunday combination)
- Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed
- No on-call required
- No block scheduling accommodation
- Local candidates not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
- Regular floating between units and facilities may be required
- Special patient care focus includes: AMI, Cardiac Arrhythmia, Heart Failure, Chest Pain, Vascular/PVD, Intermediate level of care, Sepsis/Infection, Pneumonia, ETOH withdrawal, Suicidal Ideation, GI bleed, Pre/Post Cardiac Catheterization, Femoral line/groin site management

Required Experience & Skills
Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
Minimum 2 years of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), with PCU experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Community hospital experience
Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience
Certifications required:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Certifications Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA only
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA only (certificates of completion accepted for up to 1 month)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) preferred
- Other certifications may be required based on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM)
Licensure
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Missouri
- Primary source verification of professional license required (NURSYS verification for Missouri licenses)
- Pending licenses not accepted
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Government-issued ID required
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Education verification of highest nursing degree required before start
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels (amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, etc.) and remain valid throughout assignment
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask (N95) testing required annually
- Immunizations and titers required or declinations accepted for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (Tdap required every 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer, vaccination, or MD statement required; boosters or declinations allowed except in certain units)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year of start (2-step PPD or equivalent)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)
- Various state-specific background and registry checks required for Missouri
Additional Requirements
- Unit-specific competency exams required annually, including:
- Medication/pharmacology competency
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency (new exam required for all new contracts, 80% pass rate)
- Oncology competency exam for Med Surg-Oncology unit (if applicable)
- Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
- Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
- Employment application must be completed and uploaded
- Facility-specific documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene policy, fingernail policy, dress code policy, and regulatory compliance education must be completed and updated annually
- Orientation modules (~16 hours) required for all RNs, completed through online platform prior to start
- Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
Work Conditions & Other Notes
- No on-call duties
- No block scheduling accommodation
- Floating between units and facilities is expected
- Must complete 8 weekend shifts in a 6-week period
- Guaranteed minimum of 3 shifts per 13 weeks
- Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility to qualify as a traveler
- No local candidates accepted
- RTO (Return to Office) restrictions: no more than 7 days
