Job Opportunity: PACU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift:
- 10-hour shifts, 4 days per week (40 hours/week)
- Shift times rotate between 9:00 AM–7:30 PM and 11:00 AM–9:30 PM
- Unit: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
- Patient Care: Preoperative and PACU experience required, caring for ICU-level patients
- Floors: Services split between two floors:
- L4: Oto, Oral Maxillofacial, General Thoracic
- L6: Neurosurgery, Orthospine, Neurointerventional Radiology (NIR), MRI
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan
- Minimum 2 years of Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience, including experience within the last year
- Preoperative (Pre-Op) experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Vaccinations:
- Flu vaccine required for 2025-26 season (no exemptions allowed; egg-free option available for allergies)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B: Titer, series, or declination required
- TB Testing: Negative PPD, Qgold, or T-spot within 1 year; if past positive, clear chest X-ray within 5 years and annual TB questionnaire
- Drug Screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, must be updated annually
- Fit Mask Test: Required within 1 year of start (exceptions for students); approved mask types specified
Orientation & Testing
- Pass/fail EKG competency test required upon arrival to orientation (two attempts allowed)
- Required to complete facility-specific orientation paperwork on first day
- Must review and sign confidentiality, code of conduct, conflict of interest, sexual harassment, and other facility policies prior to start
- Completion of Cornerstone training modules and attestation required
Additional Notes
- No call, float, or weekend shifts required
- Government-issued photo ID and valid driver’s license/state ID required
- Background checks required: 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, updated annually
- E-Verify or attestation required prior to start
- Facility badge and pager return required at assignment end to avoid fees
- Prior travel experience not required; first-time travelers accepted
