Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry Unit (Travel/Contract)

Location: Rochester, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirement: Available to work every other holiday, if needed
Scheduling Notes:

• Must submit RTO/block and special scheduling requests upon application
• Up to three shifts may be canceled by the client during the 13-week contract without penalty
• RN candidates within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted (locals accepted for LPNs)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
• Minimum of 1 year of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
• Valid Driver's License

Clinical Skills & Experience

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry with cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias, use of Rapid Response and Code teams
• Proficient in nasal cannula, oxygen administration, oxygen tanks, and non-invasive airway management
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, peripheral line care/management, and isolation precautions
• Patient ratio approximately 1:5
• Willingness to float within skillset as needed

Additional Information

• Charting experience with EPIC required
• Scrub color: navy blue and white combinations accepted
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must complete health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of contract signing
• Fingerprinting and additional state-specific background checks may be required depending on unit assignment
• Facility is a Magnet-recognized, 528-bed acute care teaching hospital with advanced stroke and cardiac services

Summary

This is a travel Registered Nurse position on a Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit requiring a minimum of an active NY RN license, BLS, NIHSS certification, and experience in telemetry cardiac monitoring and emergency response. The role involves day shifts with every other weekend and holiday work, EPIC charting, and a 1:5 patient ratio. Candidates must meet comprehensive health, background, and competency requirements prior to start. First-time travelers are welcome; however, local RNs within 75 miles are not accepted.
