Registered Nurse – PCU (Night Shift)

Location: Cape Girardeau, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Weekly Hours: 36
  • Specialty: Cardiac care including:
    • Cardiac drips
    • Cardiothoracic surgeries
    • Chest pain management
    • Post cath lab interventions
    • Other cardiac-specific diagnoses
  • EMR Experience: EPIC required
  • Must comply with a 75-mile radius rule

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Current, permanent Registered Nurse (RN) license for Missouri (temporary licenses not accepted)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC accepted
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only
  • Other certifications (PALS, NRP) may be required based on qualification review
  • National Tech Certification verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification within 30 days of start

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Minimum of 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Cardiac nursing experience including cardiac drips, cardiothoracic surgeries, chest pain management, post cath lab interventions, and other cardiac-specific diagnoses
  • Experience with EPIC EMR system
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association

Background & Screening Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including aliases
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 60 days of start
  • Education verification of highest degree completed
  • Missouri State mandated EDL search within 60 days of start
  • Employment application required

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year; if positive, clear chest x-ray within 5 years and TB questionnaire within 1 year
  • Annual TB questionnaire regardless of TB status
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start (specific mask models required)
  • Flu vaccination required during flu season (Sept 1 – Mar 31) or approved exemption
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine if assigned to NICU or Family Birthplace (within 10 years)
  • Required immunizations or positive titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or declination)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start

Competency & Testing Requirements

  • EPIC Pass/Fail testing administered onsite (2 attempts allowed)
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Color blind testing (online acceptable)
  • Other competency exams as applicable to specialty

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Clear, passport-style photo for badge
  • Completion of facility-specific e-learning modules prior to start and within first week
  • Influenza verification or exemption forms as applicable

  • Permanent RN license must be submitted prior to start; temporary licenses are not accepted
  • Candidate must be cleared by document deadline with all required verifications and testing completed

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful.
