Description

Registered Nurse - PACU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 10-hour shifts, rotating between 10:00 AM–8:30 PM, 12:00 PM–10:30 PM, and 2:00 PM–12:30 AM
  • Workweek: 40 hours (4 shifts per week)
  • Weekends: 2-4 weekends per contract
  • No call or float required
  • First-time travelers accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Michigan
  • Minimum 2 years of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) experience
  • PACU experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Certifications issued by the American Heart Association:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Flu vaccination required for the 2025-26 season (no exemptions allowed; egg-free vaccine available for allergies)
  • COVID-19 vaccination no longer required
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 1 year; if past positive, clear chest X-ray within 5 years and annual TB questionnaire required
  • Immunization or positive titer for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted)
  • Fit mask test within 1 year (N95 masks accepted; PAPR requires failed fit test documentation)

Documentation and Onboarding

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required
  • Background checks required within 30 days of start and updated annually, including:
    • 7-year background check covering all counties lived/worked, sex offender registry, nationwide check
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start and updated annually
  • E-Verify or attestation required
  • Facility-specific documents to review and sign prior to start, including confidentiality agreement, code of conduct, conflict of interest disclosure, sexual harassment and misconduct policy, and Cornerstone module attestations
  • Orientation paperwork required on first day and must be submitted promptly
  • ID proofing process must be completed before starting assignment

Additional Notes

  • Orientation pay rate applies for the first week (not included here)
  • Badge and pager return required at assignment end to avoid fees
  • Pass/fail EKG competency test provided at orientation with educator support and two attempts allowed
  • Flu vaccination requirement effective from October 31, 2025, through end of Winter 2026 with no exemptions

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
