Work Schedule
- Night shift: Midnight to 8:30 AM, Monday to Friday (5 days/week)
- Initial 2 weeks day shift training before transitioning to night shift
Job Description
- Overnight CT Technologist with X-Ray responsibilities in an orthopedic imaging setting
- Work independently due to low patient volume (up to 20 patients per shift, often fewer)
- Patient population includes pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Exams primarily orthopedic, performed in exam rooms or with portable equipment
- Possible rotation across multiple departments or nearby private sector location
- Work settings include outpatient, inpatient, ER, and adult ICU
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a CT Technologist, with experience within the last year
- Experience operating Siemens imaging equipment
- Experience working in outpatient and inpatient settings
- Proficiency in performing CT scans and X-rays
- Experience with portable X-ray procedures
- X-ray procedure experience: extremities, spine/pelvis, head, chest/thorax, musculoskeletal, lower and upper extremities
- CT procedure experience: abdomen, pelvis, head/neck, chest, spine, musculoskeletal, brain perfusion, CT angiography (CTAs), multiplanar reconstruction
- Comfortable working night shifts independently in a steady-paced, low-volume environment
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Valid CT Technologist license in New York
- New York State Radiologic Technologist License with IV Certification
- ARRT Radiography (R) and CT Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- IV Certification specific for Radiologic Technologists (CT Tech)
- Drug screen per Aya Healthcare standard (9 panel) within 1 year of start
- Background checks including criminal, social security trace, and state-specific searches
- Education verification required (high school/GED minimum for allied travelers; associate degree or higher preferred)
- Must have hard copy of NYS license with green border and signed by licensee
- On-line verification of licensure within 30 days of start and after any break in service over 30 days
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or move patients and equipment weighing over 150 pounds, with or without assistive devices
Additional Requirements
- Must be comfortable with pediatric and adult patient populations
- Scrubs color: Charcoal Grey
- Epic electronic health record experience preferred
- First-time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)
- Must complete various competency exams and trainings as required by the facility (e.g., medication/pharmacology competency, color blindness test, OSHA, harassment prevention)
- Must complete facility-specific onboarding and compliance documents, including privacy, confidentiality, drug-free workplace, and code of conduct agreements
- Required immunizations and health screenings:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers or vaccinations as needed
- Hepatitis B positive titer or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption by November 1
- N95 fit test within 1 year prior to start (not required for sterile processing techs)
- Must provide two manager/supervisor references (charge nurse references generally not accepted)
This position offers a specialized opportunity for CT Technologists with strong radiology skills and certifications, comfortable working independently overnight in a low-volume orthopedic hospital environment.
