Job Details
- Position: NICU Registered Nurse
- Location: Madison, Wisconsin
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day/Evening, 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, plus 2-3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period
- Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in a Level III/IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
- Manage post-operative patients, gastrostomy tubes (G-tubes), tracheostomies, and ventilators.
- Experience with various modes of invasive and noninvasive ventilation required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
- NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NRP issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with post-op patients
- Experience with g-tubes
- Trach/vent management experience
- Experience with various modes of invasive ventilation
- Experience with various modes of noninvasive ventilation
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Wisconsin.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association (AHA) only.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA only.
Required Qualifications & Compliance
- Must pass background checks including SSN trace, nationwide sex offender, and state-specific caregiver screening.
- Education verification required for nursing licensure.
- Completion of Wisconsin BID Form and Caregiver Screening within 90 days prior to start.
- Drug screening required per standard clinical guidelines.
- Physical exam must meet agency standards (within 1 year).
- Proof of immunizations and/or exemptions required:
- Tdap (one adult dose required)
- MMR (2 doses or positive titers; medical/religious exemptions accepted)
- Varicella (2 doses or positive titer; medical/religious exemptions accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination form
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually during flu season)
Required Competency & Testing
- Facility-specific Pediatric Telemetry Test (WorkRamp LMS) required prior to start and annually.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable.
- Pass/Fail testing for EKG/medication knowledge required for NICU RNs.
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement and other facility-specific training required.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must provide 2 clinical references from the last 3 years.
- Employment application and annual skills checklist required.
- Photo for badge must meet facility specifications (passport-style, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons).
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
