Labor and Delivery RN

Overview

  • Location: Lafayette, Indiana
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Day, 3x12 hours, 6:00 AM–6:30 PM
  • Contract length: 12 weeks
  • First-time travelers: Accepted
  • Local candidates: Not accepted
  • Floating: Required to MCH
  • Guaranteed hours: 36 hours per week
  • Holiday requirement: Must work 2 of 3 major holidays

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Indiana
  • Labor and Delivery (2 years of experience)
  • Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NRP issued by American Heart Association

Key Clinical Experience

  • Labor
  • Induction
  • Scheduled and unscheduled C-sections
  • C-section with salpingectomy
  • SROM and PPROM
  • Hypertension and preeclampsia
  • Antenatal care
  • Triage
  • Use of CADD epidural pumps
  • Birthing and peanut balls
  • Alaris IV pumps
  • Phillips wired and wireless monitoring
  • Periwatch
  • Steadys
  • Hillrom labor beds
  • Draeger radiant warmers
  • Vein light
  • V-scan

Unit Notes

  • Typical ratios follow AWHONN guidelines:
    • 1:1 for active labor
    • 1:2 if not in active labor
    • 1:3 for triage or antepartum patients
  • Nurses may take an additional patient when the unit is busy

Additional Notes

  • Pending license is not accepted
  • Required certifications must be in hand before submission
  • Cerner is used for charting
  • Free parking is available

Marigold is polite and professional. She goes above and beyond to ensure the contractor is well informed and has everything needed to be successful. She helped me with onboarding and getting used to the timesheet app and she answers my texts promptly, even after hours. She is a great recruiter liason. Gladys was a super helpful with onboarding and Denise will hook you up with benefits with no trouble at all. Great team to work with.

Cons

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
