Labor and Delivery RN
Overview
- Travel/contract role in Lafayette, Indiana
- 12-week assignment
- Day shift: 4x12 hours, 6:00–18:30
- First-time travelers accepted
- Local candidates not accepted
- Floating required to MCH
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
- Free parking
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Labor and Delivery (2 years of experience)
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- NRP
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Key Responsibilities / Clinical Experience
- Labor and delivery care
- Inductions
- Scheduled and unscheduled C-sections
- C-section with salpingectomy
- SROM and PPROM
- Hypertension and preeclampsia care
- Antepartum and triage patients
- Use of CADD epidural pumps
- Use of birthing and peanut balls
- Use of Alaris IV pumps
- Phillips wired and wireless monitoring
- Periwatch
- Steadys
- Hillrom labor beds
- Draeger radiant warmers
- Vein light
- V-scan
Unit Notes
- Typical ratios follow AWHONN guidelines:
- 1:1 for active labor
- 1:2 if not in active labor
- 1:3 for triage or antepartum patients
- Additional patients may be assigned when the unit is busy
Additional Hiring Requirements
- Pending license not accepted
- Background check required
- References required
- Employment application must be current and explain any 30-day or longer gaps
- Skills checklist required
- Health screening and immunization documentation required before start
