Respiratory Therapist
Job Overview
- Travel/contract role in Massena, New York
- Night shift: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
- Schedule: 7 on / 7 off
- Call required
- No local candidates within 50 miles
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in New York
- Respiratory Therapist (1 year of experience)
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- Experience with Epic
Experience / Skills
- Adult critical care
- Emergency department
- Extubation
- Nasal/oral airway placement and suctioning
- Pulmonary hygiene
- Sputum specimen collection
- Tracheostomy care and management
- Medication and therapy support including bronchodilators, inhaled steroids, aerosol setup, MDI, T-piece, trach collar, HFNC, BiPAP, and CPAP
- Troubleshooting high-pressure alarms
- Weaning from mechanical ventilation
- ABG interpretation
Unit / Equipment Details
- Small community hospital respiratory therapy department
- Manages emphysema, asthma, and other respiratory disease processes
- Provides non-invasive ventilation, high-flow oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, ABG draws and analysis, and chest physiotherapy
- Required ventilators: Servo I, LTV 1200
Additional Notes
- EPIC familiarity required
- Preferred equipment experience: Phillips V60 BiPAP, BiPAP Vision, and Teleflex high-flow nasal cannulas
- Contract length: 13 weeks
