Opportunity:

RN - PCU

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 AM or 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend requirement including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Typically 2-3 holidays required during winter, otherwise every other holiday
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Self-scheduling with manager balancing, schedule opens 6 weeks in advance
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: Days 1:4-5, Nights 1:5-6 dependent on acuity
• Nurse aide support available: Days 1:9, Nights 1:12
• 2 years of MS, PCU, or ICU experience required with experience in setting within the last 1 year
• Must have drip experience including titration of Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, 3%, and Insulin
• Tracheostomy and ventilator experience highly preferred; willing to train on vents for candidates open to learning
• Care for neuro-focused patients including strokes, seizures, Guillain-Barré, Myasthenia Gravis, spinal injuries, thrombectomies, and dementia
• Care for trauma/ortho patients including hematomas, bleeds, falls on thinners, and MVA/farm accidents
• RT equipment includes vents, trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, and EtCO2
• Floating required to sister MS units across 6 different specialties including mixed care, cardiac, general, MS ortho, and heme/onc
• Charting system: Cerner
• Orientation includes 1 general shift and 1 shift with a preceptor
• Any solid color scrubs required
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Wisconsin nursing license required

Facility:

This is a Level 2 Trauma acute care facility with a 28-bed Progressive Care Unit that specializes in neurological and trauma orthopedic patient populations. The unit features a strong focus on neuro specialty care and is equipped with advanced respiratory therapy equipment to support complex patient needs. The facility utilizes Cerner as its electronic health record system and maintains a collaborative, structured environment with charge nurse and house supervisor support available across all shifts.
