Opportunity:
RN - Neonatal Intensive Care Nurse
Job Details:
• Evening/night shifts, 8 or 12 hours, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Required to work 2-3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period (4-6 weekend shifts per contract based on unit needs)
• Minimum 2 years of total NICU Level III/IV experience required, with at least 1 full year in a Level IV NICU
• Level III and Level IV experience may be combined to reach the 2-year total, but a minimum of 1 year must be in a Level IV NICU
• Travel experience required; locals within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Required to float to all units caring for patients less than 12 months of age, including PICU; travelers float first
• Experience required with post-op patients, g-tubes, trach/vent management, and various modes of invasive/non-invasive ventilation
• Special equipment includes ventilators for invasive and noninvasive ventilation including NAVA (Draeger, Servo & Oscillator), aEEG, and Whole Body Cooling (Arctic Sun)
• Patient population consists of neonates in a 26-bed Level IV NICU with a daily census of 17
• Patient ratios range from 1:3
• Diagnoses include high-acuity neonates requiring surgery, brain injury or stroke, seizures, prematurity, congenital heart disease, cardiac catheterization, and metabolic or genetic disorders
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Radiology, Social Services, and Pharmacy
• Epic charting system experience required
• Required certifications: BLS and NRP (AHA only); Wisconsin RN license or compact license required
• PALS preferred
• Pass/fail telemetry exam required prior to start with a passing score of 80% or higher; traveler has two attempts to pass
• Key skills include ventilator management, neonatal dosage calculations, central line care, arterial line management, therapeutic hypothermia, tracheostomy care, UAC/UVC management, and high-frequency ventilation among others

The facility is home to a Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and a Level IV NICU that cares for the tiniest and most critically ill patients throughout the state and beyond.
