Job Details:

• Work 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend rotation required, including holidays as needed
• Patient ratio of 4:1 for days, nights, and weekends
• Float to UW University campus as required
• Two (2) years of Emergency Department experience with adult and pediatric populations within the last 3 years required
• Travel experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required; Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Wisconsin RN or Compact RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, PALS, ACLS (AHA only), TNCC
• Must pass a Telemetry test prior to start - Adult and Pediatric exams with a passing score of 80% or higher required within two attempts
• Provide comprehensive emergency care across a wide range of clinical presentations for patients of all ages including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
• Perform and support procedures including arterial line management, central line care, chest tube management, procedural sedation, intubation, IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation and paralytics, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Conduct triage, obtain 12-lead EKG/ECG, perform phlebotomy, manage IVs, and apply splints
• Support patients with a wide range of diagnoses including trauma, stroke, behavioral health, respiratory conditions, neurological emergencies, and more
• Serve as part of the hospital's rapid response team, delivering emergent assessment and intervention throughout the facility
• Coordinate with ground ambulance and Med Flight services for critically ill and injured patients
• Interdisciplinary support available including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, pharmacy, social services, and interpretation services

The department is designated as a Level IV Trauma Center and an Acute Stroke Ready Center, and has been recognized as a Pediatric Ready Emergency Department. With 40 exam rooms, 19 vertical care spaces, and the ability to flex an additional 20 exam rooms during high-volume periods, the facility is equipped to handle a wide range of emergency and trauma cases efficiently.
