Description

Job Summary:
A registered nurse specializing in progressive care unit (PCU) in Asheville, North Carolina. This role involves caring for patients with cardiovascular and vascular surgery needs, including open heart procedures, thoracic lung surgeries, and other complex cardiovascular cases. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment.

Job Details:

  • Location: Asheville, North Carolina
  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Certifications include Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS). Candidates must have stepdown experience, telemetry experience, and prior CV surgery and vascular surgery population experience (including open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, and fem-pop bypass) within the past year.
  • Preferred Qualifications: CV ICU experience is advantageous.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required.
  • Additional Information: No call; minimum of 6 weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday day or night) per six-week schedule; flexibility to work holidays.
  • Position Description: The unit provides care for a primary patient population including cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery patients; also receives overflow medical cardiology patients. The unit has approximately 40 beds and a staff of around 100 team members, including RNs, patient care technicians, and health unit coordinators. Equipment used includes Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various lifts, with care documented in Cerner electronic medical records.
